Participatory Social Justice in CoachingDeborah Miller

This is an experiential workshop for coach training organizations and for coaches. In this workshop, you will participate in an introspective journey using a social justice audit framework and consider strengths-based solutions where gaps are identified. This audit framework is based on the work of Tait and O’Rourke (2014) to address issues of social justice in open, distance and e-learning. The framework recommends a participatory approach that includes all constituents and stakeholders in the process creating a 360-degree view of social justice (in contrast to an internal self-monitoring process). Where coach training organizations and coaches may give primacy to excellence in instruction and coaching, the audit framework includes issues related to social justice; overall access; access related to entry and sustainability of learning; technology access; quality in management, administration; instruction and instructional resources; consistency and sustainability; and, social contract. Together, we will harness the wisdom of your organization or practice strengths and consider disruptive practices to apply to social justice gaps.
