As coaches, we are called to cultivate spaces of trust, healing, and transformation. Yet, in a world where conflict, division, and systemic inequities persist, how do we navigate our own inner landscapes to show up with clarity, compassion, and courage? How do we process the complexities of our work while remaining fully present for those we support?
“Writing Toward Peace” is an experiential workshop that invites you to explore reflective writing as a powerful tool for self-awareness, emotional processing, and deepened coaching presence. Writing allows us to slow down, engage in self-inquiry, and listen more attentively—not only to ourselves but also to the emotions, perspectives, and untold stories that shape our interactions with clients. As a coaching tool, writing strengthens our ability to hold space, evoke awareness, and navigate complexity with intention and grace.
This interactive session aligns with ACTO’s Stand and supports the development of key ICF Core Competencies, including:
- Cultivating radical self-awareness by engaging in reflective writing, reinforcing a coaching mindset rooted in presence and curiosity.
- Deepening trust and safety through exploring personal narratives and recognizing how the stories we carry influence our coaching relationships.
- Strengthening presence and active listening by practicing how to sit with complexity, uncertainty, and discomfort.
- Expanding the capacity to evoke awareness by surfacing unconscious assumptions and opening space for new perspectives.
- Using writing as a tool for self-inquiry and growth, supporting both coaches and clients in navigating transformation with greater clarity and intention.
Participants can look forward to an experiential and participatory session. Whether you are a seasoned writer or someone who rarely picks up a pen, you will be guided through gentle yet thought-provoking prompts designed to help you reflect on your coaching practice, process inner tensions, and cultivate a greater sense of peace—within yourself and in your coaching relationships.
Through intentional writing, small-group dialogue, and guided reflection, you will:
✔ Gain deeper insight into how your inner narratives shape your coaching presence.
✔ Explore writing as a powerful tool for processing discomfort, gaining clarity, and fostering transformation.
✔ Walk away with practical techniques to integrate reflective writing into your personal and professional coaching practice.
Come with a journal, an open mind, and a willingness to explore. Together, we will uncover how the power of writing can help us cultivate deeper self-awareness, enhance our coaching presence, and create spaces where transformation and peace can truly take root.
“Writing Toward Peace” is an invitation to explore reflective writing as a tool for deepening self-awareness, fostering belonging, and expanding our capacity to coach from a place of peace. Through guided writing prompts, mindful inquiry, and shared reflection, this interactive workshop aligns with ACTO’s Stand by supporting coaches in:
- Cultivating radical self-awareness to recognize biases, privileges, and internalized narratives.
- Using writing as a practice to process discomfort, hold paradox, and navigate complex social realities.
- Fostering a deeply compassionate and culturally responsive presence in coaching relationships.
