Adult development theory – often called vertical development – provides a map for how human beings develop the complexity of their thinking over the course of their lives. A common critique of different models of adult development are that they are hierarchical and non-inclusive. In this session we will inquire into and explore the fluid nature of development and how the practice of action-inquiry can support coaches and clients in embracing the range of their own humanity and that of others and develop greater trust with clients through deep and empathic listening and genuine inquiry.
