You Get What You Give

We invite you to get involved in an ACTO Committee!

As we get started with another robust and exciting year here at ACTO, the Board of Directors would like to take a moment to warmly invite each and every member to get involved in an ACTO committee. Those members who get involved in committee projects routinely report that they feel more connected to and get so much more out of their ACTO membership than when they sit by on the sidelines. We need and want you to get involved!

Here are the answers to some frequently-asked-questions about getting involved on an ACTO committee.

  1. Time commitment: you can be involved as much or as little as you like. On average, a good starting point when thinking about the time it will take to be an active member of a committee is 2-4 hours per month. Committees typically meet monthly, with project work in between meetings.
  2. Committees you might consider joining:
    • Education/Research. This is the committee that is responsible for bringing the annual conference to fruition each year. If you have some ideas about how to make our educational opportunities at ACTO even more robust and meaningful than they already are, this might be the committee for you.
    • Communications/Community Relations/Marketing. Have ideas about how to grow our association? Do you enjoy social media and have opinions about how to make our presence more well-known via those channels? Want to creatively brainstorm to find new and exciting ways to get the word out about ACTO? This could be the winner for you!
    • Membership. Do you have a knack for finding ways to make our organization more inclusive and expansive? Do you want to be on the forefront of helping to define what “belonging” means to ACTO and its members? This might be the right place for you to get involved.
    • Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Are you interested in continuing to help foster the highest of ethical standards and professional behaviors for coaches around the globe? Do you feel passionate about making sure that the coaching profession is staying current and relevant with the latest ethical issues in our field? Consider becoming a part of this committee!
