Overall objective of the presentation

The purpose of the presentation is to create a learning space through a conversation that enables the people attending to participate and share about the ethical topics being presented.  Thereby, enhancing awareness of the topic of ethics and coaching; and reinforcing commitment moving forward from an ethical standpoint.

It is intended that the participants reinforce their ethical commitment, whereby this will enable them and others through them, to commit with Being ethical and professional individuals who adhere to professional ethical principles and the ICF Code of Ethics.  The underlying purpose is to create awareness of how being ethical contributes to honor and be respectful of our customers, clients, colleagues, students, men and women in general with whom we interact and ultimately expand our vision of its importance to the coaching profession and social overall.

Specific objectives of the presentation

  • Knowledge: Know and understand the ICF Code of Ethics, the changes to the ICF Code of Ethics and its relevance to the coaching profession.
  • Being versus doing: Raise awareness about the importance of ethical professional conduct and behavior applied to the coaching profession.
  • Responsibility: Recognize the responsibility we assume, when we choose to become a Coach.
  • Taking ownership of ethical situations: Knowing how to address ethical issues and take appropriate action with caring and compassion.
  • Learn: A framework that will enable participants and others through them to discern and act with regards ethical issues.
  • Credibility: Heighten trust with clients, colleagues, students, and others based on Being ethical.
  • Transcend: From a viewpoint of professional ethics, how it relates to social responsibility.

Mirna Pérez Piris, PCC MBA

Mirna PerezMirna is a certified leadership coach, speaker and writer, facilitator, trainer and leadership consultant.  In addition, having worked and lived abroad has granted her with cross-cultural knowledge. Her work is founded on energetic insight, strong leadership qualities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which have enabled her to successfully work with senior level executives in various multinational business environments.

As a speaker, her topics include Ethics, Coaching, Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion, and Resilience.  She is the author of the book “El Arte de Ser Coach y Algo Más…”.  Academically, she taught “Coaching: An Effective Tool for the Human Development” as part of the Master Program in Human Development, Iberoamericana University and “Ethics and the Coaching Profession”, as part of the Human and Organizational Development Master Program, Universidad de Londres, both in Mexico City.

Her education includes a M.B.A. and B.B.A., from the University of Puerto Rico; Leadership Coaching Certification, Georgetown University; Development Assessment Certification, Interdevelopmental Institute; Social and Emotional Intelligence Certification, Talento Emocional; Hogan Assessments Leadership Forecast Series Certification; The Leadership Circle, Certificate of Training – Profile Certification.

Mirna is very committed with the ICF and is an active collaborator. She is presently the mentor for the Latin-America Ethics Committee, previously was the Latin-America Ethics Representative, prior was the Chair of the Regulatory Committee, during 2012 was the Mexico ICF Charter Chapter President, participated in the Vancouver ICF event “Evolving the Conversation: A Summit on the Future of Coaching” and represented Latin-America in the ICF Global Forum.
